I have been teaching private piano and violin lessons for over 40 years.
I graduated with highest honors from the University of Kentucky with a B. M. in piano and violin, then earned a M.M. in music theory. I have done additional graduate work at the University of Cincinnati's College Conservatory of Music (CCM). I am a memberof Phi Beta Kappa (our country's oldest scholastic honorary society) and Pi Kappa Lambda (the national music honorary society). I was a graduate assistant at U.K. for two years and taught undergraduate music theory courses.
I played violin with the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra for six years and with the Northern Kentucky Symphony for two seasons. I worked as a violin section coach for the Central Kentucky Youth Symphony Orchestra for two years. I was the accompanist for the Northern Kentucky University Children's Preparatory Choir from its inception in 1994, through 1999. I accompanied for the pre-professional ballet program at CCM from 1998 through 2004. In addition to my work with school-aged children and adults I taught Kindermusik classes for very young children from 1999 to 2009.
Many of my former students have received music scholarships to college and several are now working musicians or music teachers.
I am the mother of two musical daughters: the eldest is a talented trombonist and the youngest is a singer/dancer/actor based in New York.
